How to remove car decals without damaging paint
You may wish to remove a bumper sticker on your vehicle as if it never existed. Even if you place them on the paint of your car, stickers and other decals won't last forever. It doesn't matter if you like it or not. The sticker will eventually fade and start to wear out.
You can remove your sticker without damaging your car's finish if you follow the correct steps. There are many products available that will remove the sticker's adhesive, but not all will protect your car paint. Follow these steps to protect your paint.www.nascarwraps.com
1. Cleaning It with Soapy water
You'll need to clean the decal and the surrounding area before you rub off the adhesive residue. Wash the decal with soapy water and a soft cloth. You can also plan to remove it after you've run your car through a wash.
2. Heat It Up
Next, heat the sticker or decal on the car to loosen and weaken the adhesive. A hair blow dryer is the best tool to use, since a heat gun can damage paint. If you need an extension cord, use one and set your hair blow dryer on its highest setting. Be sure to evenly distribute the heat throughout the sticker. Also, be sure to heat its edges. Allow it to heat for at least two minutes before stopping.
You can also pour boiling water on the decals to heat them up. This is messy and hot, so you might need to repeat the process several times. It will still work even if you do not have a blow dryer.
3. Peel it Off
This step should be done immediately after the decal has been heated. You'll need a plastic card, such as a reward card or an older debit or credit card. Plastic is best, since razor blades and knives can scratch paint. If you heat the card up enough, it's strong enough to remove the decal. You can use the card around the edges of the sticker to release it. After you have used the card and released the edges of decal with your hand, you can peel it off.(Brown Car Wrap)
4. Use A Glue Removal Product Or Vinegar
You'll probably still have adhesive residue left on your car after the sticker or decal has been removed. It's fine, because you have a variety of products that will remove it without damaging your paint. You can use white vinegar to remove adhesive residue if you have it in your kitchen. Apply the vinegar to a soft cloth and rub. Use an adhesive remover like Goo Gone which is more powerful. Use a cloth to apply the product and rub the area. Or, follow the directions on the label.
