How to Remove a Car Wrap
To remove a vinyl wrap from a car, the technician must:
Shaded Areas for Work
Professionals will not work in direct sunlight as it can cause the adhesive bond to the vehicle body and make it harder to remove. Instead, they will use a garage, or a sheltered area.
Use a plastic scrapper to lift the edges
A technician will begin by locating the edges of wrap around the vehicle's body seams, such as the trunk, doors, and hood. After locating the edges, the car wrap expert will lift the edge with a fingernail before using a plastic scraper to peel the wrap.
How to Use a Heat Gun
The adhesive will stick better to the wrap if you hold the heat gun 6 inches from the vehicle, and move it back and forward to evenly distribute the heat. The technician can easily pull the edges of the wrap away from the vehicle as the heat is applied.(Yellow Car Wrap)
Remove the wrap from the vehicle
The technician can then lift the wrap slowly at a 15 degree angle away from the vehicle body. The technician can remove the wrap as a whole and the adhesive will not stick to the vehicle.
Heat the wrap
If the wrap cools and the adhesive starts to stick again to the vehicle, an expert in car wraps will reheat vinyl near the edge that is peeling. The technician will make sure that the vinyl is heated evenly so that the entire adhesive can be removed from the vehicle.
